The back notes read:

Back cover notes:
Kiki Dee - one of the biggest talents we've heard in a long while! This live-wire redhead from Bradford started singing professionally with local dance-bands; suddenly she was spotted by someone "in the know" while appearing at a ballroom in Leeds. Word quickly got through to Fontana's A and R manager Jack Baverstock in London. A test was arranged, and while Jack was listening Mitch Murray walked in, liked what he heard, and returned a few days later with a song composed especially for her - Early Night.
And Kiki hasn't looked back. She followed this up with Don't put your heart in his hand and Miracles. She came second in the 1965 San Remo Son Festival, and from there - the world is hers!

Back cover notes:
Kiki Dee is a star.
I don't know how old you have to be, how experienced you to be or sometimes how good you have to be, to rate that status, but she is. The strange thing is that we know who is and who isn't. Not that 'we' in show business, but 'we' people. The viewers and the listeners. When there is someone out front laying it down we know. A star, I suppose, is just someone who has no qualms about letting us know what it is all about. They put everything into whatever they are doing and it comes across. It comes across. You want to be there with them. On that stage, in that studio, next to them.
Kiki Dee does that when she sings. To me, anyway.
Every time she sings a song she makes it work. There are accomplished artists about who would trade a lot for the depth and sincerity that Kiki finds in everything she does. An emotion exists within her that must make a songwriter go to bed with a pen in his hand. As to whether it is a good thing or not to have a record in the charts? There is a question that has been argued, and will be argued for as long as they exist. No one knows the answer really. The top twenty kills some singers and saves others. But it makes no one. It will certainly never be responsible for shaping the career and future of Kiki Dee. For the charts leave alone the most important item in the book. Talent. And that is what Kiki is about.
How can any booker for any show listen to her sing a number like "Patterns" and not want to get her name at the bottom of a contract immediately defeats me.
Hang on to this album. For in about five years Kiki Dee is going to be one of the most exciting singers this country has ever produced, then this record will be a shared memory - yours and hers, and you will have been in at the beginning. Yes, Kiki Dee is a star. About to move.

Back cover notes;
She uninhibited as she strolls in her own imaginary, elusive world. And with her unique vocalisms she lets you in on an imagery of ballads with a meaning all their own. She's young in a way only children are young - naive with honesty and sincere with boundless energy.
Kiki Dee is a child of the great British music movement - the great influx of British singers to invade America's pop music charts. But she's not in a British bag. Miss Dee is, running the risk of sounding trite, in her own bag. She sings with contemporary grace in her own pop style and comes up with a collection of twelve provocative tunes.

Cover notes:
Ladies generally have a lean time of it as far as the hit parade is concerned. Even those whose names are the proverbial household words, and who keep popping up on the telly in their own series or guesting in someone else's, can't take it for granted by any means that each and every single-play release will automatically gain the accolade of chart placing.
Which seems a little unfair somehow, particularly as most of their male counterparts in the singing trade can almost take it for granted that each and every single will sail into the hit limelight with minimum delay and difficulty. Theories as to why this lack of women's hit lib should be so, vary, the most prevalent being that other ladies of tender teen years constitute a large proportion of the single buying market and they are quite reasonably more interested in buying records featuring the star fellers.
Thus it is, whatever the reason, that a young 26-year-old beauty such as Miss Kiki Dee finds attaining a place in the hit parade sun to be persistently elusive. She sounds as good as she looks, she is admired by all her contemporaries (not least by those who do manage to make the charts), and she is never short of top-class engagements here and in many other parts of the world. Kiki doesn't get kooky about it, however, but continues to enthral her audiences everywhere with her quiet, engaging stage person ality and presence and a voice of arresting power, range, emotion and individuality.
Kiki is a Yorkshire lass, born in Bradford in March 1947. She made her first public singing appearance at the age of 10 in a local talent contest, and attended a northern theatre school to learn the arts of acting and dancing as well as singing, useful early tuition which laid the foundations of her present versatile competence and professionalism. After leaving school, she got her first singing job with a local dance band, more invaluable experience requiring her to know and be able to sing all the popular tunes of the moment, whatever their style. During the daytime she worked on the cosmetics counter of a Bradford chemist shop, but didn't enjoy the work or the hours at a ll, so tendered her resignation after three months. The band job in the evenings didn't pay enough for a reasonable life with regular meals, so Kiki augmented her income by helping her sister, who ran a hairdressing and beauty salon.
The Dee voice was impressing many in the Bradford area, including the manager of the dance band, who suggested she cut a demonstration disc to see what the reaction would be down south in London. The reaction was a Philips recording contract, and the beginning of a string of polished performances on record, radio, TV and in cabaret in Britain and the main European countries and South Africa. Just how polished and professionally positive she is in her singing style and approach can be gleaned from this collection, and, while she richly deserves the satisfaction of that elusive hit single, the rest of us can rejoice in being able to hear not just two but sixteen examples of vocal Dee-light in this album. Rear sleeve notes:
Sometimes the public catch up with a talent that has been around for years and wonder why they hadn' t discovered it before. Such is the case with Kiki Dee, or 'Keek' as she's known to her friends. 'Keek' has been around for a little while longer than she'd like to admit (her first record was released in 1964 - but she was very young at the time!) and since then she's been making a lot of very good records but not getting the public acclaim she deserves. She has always been rated, by the industry itself, as one of Britain's finest female vocalists, but for some reason that hasn't been reflected in sales - until now.
Among Kiki's recording experience was a contract with Motown, the Detroit based black company that nurtured Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and many other hit artists. Kiki was one of the first white artists to be signed, and recorded only one album for Motown.
It is a very fine example of Kiki's extraordinary vocal talent, supported by some excellent Motown arrangements by Frank Wilson, producer of the Four Tops, Eddie Kendricks and the Supremes. Included are the two singles she released for the company, The Day Will Come Between Sunday And Monday and Love Makes The World Go Round - a big hit in the States for her.
Kiki Dee is finally recognised as one of Britain's leading ladies. But her success is by no means temporary. She has a lasting talent that has been waiting for years to be uncovered by the public. This album stands as testimony of that fact.
Note: this album comprises mostly of the album 'Great Expectations' but replaces the last tracks on either side with other material recorded at the same time.

Kiki Dee was born Pauline Matthews on March 6th, 1947 in Bradford. By the time she was fourteen she was singing in local bands, and less than two years later, when she left school, she got a job with a dance band in Leeds. When she was working in a Newcastle TV studio, Dusty Springfield's manager spotted her and took an interest and in 1963 when she was still only 16 he helped her sign her first recording contract.
In 1965 she came second in the San Remo Festival in Italy and became a firm favourite on the Continent. She signed with Tamla Motown in 1969, becoming the first British artist on the label.
A chance meeting with former U.K. Motown label manager John Reid, by now Elton John's manager, led to her first successful recording situation, Rocket Records. Her debut single for them "AMOUREUSE" was a hit, produced by Elton and Clive Franks.
Then came an American tour with the Kiki Dee Band, supporting Steely Dan and afterwards the Beach Boys. Singing with her own band helped clarify both Kiki's music, her songwriting and her image.
In 1974 she returned to the States supporting Elton on a ten week tour once again with the Kiki Dee Band, and made the charts there with a number 11 hit "I GOT THE MUSIC IN ME" from the album of the same name, produced by Gus Dudgeon. It was a very important hit for her for two reasons. Firstly, it proved she was no one-hit wonder, and secondly, it was a dynamic rock song and showed that she wasn't only at home with a sensitive ballad but could stand up and rock with the best.
Early in '76 Kiki recorded "DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART" with Elton. The single went on to become the most successful record of '76 worldwide, charting at No.1 simultaneously in Britain and the States.

Cover notes:

Kiki Dee once told a Brltish music magazine that "(I've) always been a bit frustrated that I never found a niche as a singer". Though she may have found this a minus, many of her biggest fans have found her ability to sing blues, soul, rockers or ballads powerfully and emotionally a major plus in their appreciation of one of the finest female vocalists Britain has ever produced.
Kiki was born Pauline Matthews on March 6th 1947 and started her musical career at the age of ten by winning a local talent contest. By 16, and whilst working in a Boots Chemist, she was invited to audition for Philips Records and after successfully completing the task she issued her first single 'Early Night' in the summer of 1963. The next five years saw her release a string of critically acclaimed 45s like "Miracles", "You Don't Know How Glad I Am", "Runnin' Out Of Fools" (the old Aretha Franklin classic), "Why Don't I Run Away From You" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", but their lack of commercial success seemed to indicate that fame might pass young Kiki by. However, when the giant Tamla Motown label came in and signed her in 1968 she certainly hit the headlines for she was the first British female to be signed by the company. Her 1970 for Tamla "Great Expectations", which included the powerful "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing", seemed to suggest that stardom was beckoning but alas the world was not ready for Kiki Dee and so spent the early part of the seventies performing on the cabaret circuit.
In 1973, however, and just after he'd set up his own Rocket Records label, Elton John approached Kiki to become the company's first signing and though her first 45 for Rocket, the John/Taupin composition "Lonnie And Josie", failed to chart, her second, the ballad "Amoureuse", shot to the No. 13 position and finally gave Kiki Dee the long overdue break her talent and determination so richly deserved. After a near miss with "Hard Luck Story" followed by a Top 20 smash with "I Got The Music In Me" (which also charted in the US) Kiki then chalked up her third UK hit courtesy of a re-recording of her old 1964 single "(You Don't Know) How Glad I Am". The summer of 1976 saw Kiki topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic on a duet with Elton John, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart", whilst later in the same year, and in her own right she scored a UK No.13 position for the stunning "Loving And Free". "First Thing In The Morning" gave her a minor hit in early 1977, the same year that she reached the No. 28 slot with 'Chicago', which featured Elton's "Bite Your Lip" as its double A Side, and she ended the decade by releasing the powerful "Stay With Me" album which contained the singles "One Jump Ahead Of The Storm" and "Dark Side Of Your Soul".
Today Kiki Dee is still touring and recording regularly and she has won considerable critical acclaim for her acting skills in theatre productions like "Pump Boys And Dinettes" and "Blood Brothers". Singing or acting, her ability to be so versatile and determined are the traits that have made her such a success. So ladies and gentlemen sit back and enjoy the wonderful voice of Kiki Dee. MARK BRENNAN

1997-98
The start of what was going to be a complete remastering of Kiki's back catalogue by Reveree
Thanks to Todd Durnil who provided this information
"Reveree was based on a series of e-mails between Jeffrey (Osborne) and me.
I had actually got the ball rolling by posting a post in "The 22nd Row," an Elton John fanzine, about seeing Kiki's albums reissued on cd (this would have been in the late 90s - I'm guessing 1997 or 1998 - the letter was online, I'll see if I can find a link). This was the start of my correspondence with Jeffrey Osborne, who then took the idea and ran with it, contacting many who were involved personally with Kiki - all the way up to major players personally involved like the late Gus Dudgeon and members of Elton's band. Jeffrey and I had many phone, mail, and e-mail discussions, and he also set up a phone conference with Kiki herself. My plan with Reveree, after we released Kiki's recordings, was to do the same with other artists like Kim Carnes, Judee Tzuke, and Iain Matthews (all of whom were neglected artists whose recordings had not been released at the time).
Jeffrey was also primary in helping to arrange Kiki's New York appearance around Elton's Madison Square Garden shows that led to One Night Only, which was released in 2000. It was after Kiki's participation that Elton gave Kiki the ownership rights to her recordings.

Notes:

* How Glad I Am, although listed on cover is not actually on the CD

It is believed that this CD is a legal pirated CD from Belgium, in that the tracks have been taken from the original vinyl copies and not re-mastered from the original tapes. I have heard that the man who did these has now commited suicide due to pressure bought on him by vrious parties and that all the Cds he released are now no in general circulation.
